Opioid Remediation Research and Evaluation 2024

The program is supported by a $2.4 million appropriation from the North Carolina General Assembly. Research and evaluation projects may request up to $200,000 for 12 months. A single award of up to $200,000 for 18 months will be made to a coordinating center that will support all awarded research and evaluation projects.

The purpose of this program is to foster collaborative research stemming from ideas or conversations that occurred as a result of the 2019 and 2022 Tar Heel Bus Tours. Eligible applicants include passengers of the 2019 or 2022 Tar Heel Bus Tours working in teams of two or more.

Opioid Abatement and Recovery Research Program 2022

The program is supported by a $1.9 million appropriation from the North Carolina General Assembly to address the opioid crisis through treatment recovery, harm reduction and other strategies. Eligible applicants include constituent institutions of the UNC System, which can request a maximum of $380,000 direct costs using tiers listed in the application instructions.

Business-Academia Partnership Program 2022: COVID-19 Public Health and Economic Impacts in North Carolina

The program is supported by a $15 million appropriation from the North Carolina General Assembly to support applied research for technology development and commercialization. Businesses partnered with an academic research group will be able to request a minimum of $300,000 and a maximum of $3,000,000 using tiers listed in the application instructions.

The program is supported by a $6 million appropriation from the North Carolina General Assembly to monitor, assess and address the public health and economic impacts of COVID-19 across the State. Institutions of higher learning in North Carolina will be able to request a minimum of $150,000 and a maximum of $500,000 using tiers listed in the application instructions.
